Stone Turning, one of Iran’s amazing old crafts

Stone turning (carving) is known as the art of rotating a piece of rock with a lathe to make objects of symmetrical and circular volume.

This art produces objects such as pots, pans, mortars, sugar bowls, bowls, vases, table bases and etc.

Stone turning has been one of Iran’s oldest and most authentic handicrafts.

Today, classical methods are not used in this industry anymore; but technology has made things much easier for the artists of this field.
